A musical setting of a poem from Time Flies (1885) by Christina Rossetti set by Clara Angela Macirone (1851–1914), previously Professor of Piano at the Royal Academy of Music until all female teaching staff were dismissed in 1866; her work was praised by Mendelssohn. We have been unable to trace the publication in which it appeared.
Hardinge’s ‘Reminiscence’ is an ‘impressionist sketch’ of Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his art; in the footnotes he thanks William Michael Rossetti ‘for the interest he has taken in perusing this little paper’. The other extracts include ‘The Life of Christina Rossetti’ by Lily Watson, and three articles and a poem by C. B. Cayley, Christina’s one time suitor, from Modern Thought.
